ARHRF FEATURE IN MAY ROTARY DOWN UNDER

May is one of the few months of the year for which there is no official Rotary International theme so, in Australia, the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund seizes the opportunity to run a special four page feature.

This feature brings Rotary clubs and Districts up to date with all major achievements and plans by and for the ARHRF during the past year and in the year ahead.

But of course the most exciting feature of the May issue for the RDU Management Committee and staff is further refinement of our now widely acclaimed new format and design,

We have "beefed up" the headlines, introduced a little more colour, enlarged caption sizes, and added a little more definition to the commencement of various magazine sections. There's still a little more appraisal and refinement to do but, by the commencement of the new Rotary year in July, we plan to deliver to our subscribers a very readable magazine right up with the best in readability, layout and design!

The editorial attractions within the May issue do not start and end with the four page Australian Rotary Health Research Fund feature ...

There's a full report (page 16) on Sydney's successful bid for the Rotary International Convention in 2014 and a very emotional cover story on the aftermath of Cyclone Larry.

Don't miss the story (page 17) covering the Rotary Club of Dunedin's generous donation of $25,000 to the New Zealand Cure Kids organisation and the immediate benefits of that donation. Another amazing story out of New Zealand (page 25) is the latest Devonport Food and Fine Festival (running for 17 years) which this year attracted more than 10,000 people and raised $110,000!

Then there is the page 22 account of incredible generosity by the people of the Solomon Islands in supporting the people of Sri Lanka by way of a District 9600 school rebuilding program in the wake of the 2004 tsunami disaster.

Rotarian Life the other "face" of Rotary Down Under carries the usual array of impressive features, including a delightful travel insight into Western Australia by Editor Meagan Jones "into the west" (page 12).

There's also a rather dramatic story (page 16) from Rotarian Owen Douglas on his personal experience in coping with a stroke.

DON'T FORGET committed Rotarians don't just read Rotary Down Under ... they become part of Rotary's mobile team of public relations ambassadors and share the magazine with their families, neighbours, work mates, business and professional offices, sporting friends, schools, libraries, transport terminals and any other suitable recipient!
