1. 1412: RI accepts Hindi as arecognized language for translation

RI accepts Hindias arecognized language for translation

Since 1998, the resolution seeking to include Hindi as a recognized 
language was debated in every CoL and every time it was recommended 
to the Board of Directors of Rotary International. Howeverit did not 
get approved by the Board till now. 

After 2007 CoL, the issue was once again put for discussion in 
Oct/Nov 2007 Board Meeting the Board has now given approval to 
include Hindi as one more language in the R.I's list for translation.

Here is the excerpts from the Board decision on the captioned subject:

F-2. Review of Translation Policy 

DECISION: The Board 

1. re-affirms English as the official language of RI and 
agrees to continue providing translations in French, German, 
Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish;

2. agrees to begin providing translation into Hindi as of 1 July 
2008 as publications are developed and/or revised;

3. requests the general secretary to provide cost implications 
for the addition of Hindi to the Board at its January 2008 
meeting;
